Blackout Poetry Workshop with Deshawn McKinney

Blackout poetry is a form of found poetry where the poet takes a text and removes words from it, creating a new text through this act of destruction.
Join Madison-based poet Deshawn McKinney to dig into the art and science of blackout poetry. Come learn what makes something a blackout poem, explore the techniques that make these poems strike a chord, and practice what you've learned with a series of writing exercises. There will be time for discussion, writing, and (fingers crossed) sharing of what we write!
