Blacklist Royals mark their triumphant return by signing to Fat Wreck Chords and supporting NOFX on their farewell tour. Their upcoming release, Punk Rock Survivors, is full of anthemic fight songs about music’s power to sustain hope . . . even beneath the Shadow of Death.
Identical twins Nat and Rob Rufus know about the healing power of music better than anyone. The twins started their first punk band at thirteen. By high school, they were invited on Warped
Tour. But then tragedy struck...Rob was diagnosed with Stage Four cancer. Nat hit the road to keep their punk rock dreams alive. Rob lived in hospitals and went through years of horrific
treatments and surgeries that left him disabled. A second Stage Four cancer diagnosis followed. But Rob survived, against all odds. He relearned how to drum despite his disabilities, and the
twins move to Nashville and formed Blacklist Royals. They played hundreds of DIY shows before signing to prominent indie label Paper + Plastick Records. Their debut LP, Semper Liberi, hit the
scene by storm and turned Blacklist Royals into a seminal part of the 2010s punk rock revival.
Their follow up, Die Young With Me, was released on Universal Music Group and produced by Grammy Winner Ted Hutt (Gaslight Anthem, Flogging Molly). It was overwhelmingly hailed by
critics and took the band all over the world, sharing stages with Blink-182, The Hives, Dropkick Murphys, Less Than Jake, Face to Face, and countless others. They had numerous songs on TV
shows and in feature films, which led to Blacklist Royals’ own network TV performance.
In 2016, Rob’s memoir—Die Young With Me—was published by Simon & Schuster. It won the American Library Association Award and was hailed as one of the best books of the year. The
bestseller inspired countless readers and introduced the twins to a new generation of fans. From there, the twins branched out on numerous projects, including the successful goth-
doowop The Bad Signs and Nubs & The Studs, the world’s first “disability-visibility band.” Punk Rock Survivors is a return to form, a collection of blistering, catchy songs with lyrics steeped in
emotional heft, a siren song urging all of us to rededicate ourselves to the power of punk.
