Blacklight Breakout: A Murder Mystery Challenge

Schedule

Sat Apr 25 2026 at 06:00 pm to 09:00 pm

UTC-08:00

Location

Crime Scene Entertainment | Post Falls, ID

Brilliant forensic analyst Dr. Rowan Hale has spent months developing an experimental investigative challenge designed to test how people observe evidence, connect clues, and uncover the truth.

Tonight, a select group of guests has been invited to experience the challenge firsthand.

Each participant will step into the role of someone connected to Hale’s ambitious project — collaborators, critics, investors, researchers, journalists, and others with ties to the mysterious new system known as The Hale Protocol.

The evening begins as an interactive investigative challenge. Participants will examine evidence, decode puzzles, and explore Hale’s lab while testing their observational skills and logical thinking.

But as the night unfolds, the challenge takes a shocking turn.

Secrets begin to surface.

Hidden clues start revealing themselves.

And what began as a test of investigative skill quickly becomes a real investigation.

Someone in the room knows more than they’re saying.

Search the evidence.

Decode the puzzles.

Share what you discover.

Piece together the truth behind the crime.

At the end of the night, guests who correctly identify the killer, the motive, and the key evidence will earn the title of Master Detective.

Do you have what it takes to uncover the truth?

Costumes

Guests will receive a character role connected to the story. Costumes are not required, but you're welcome to dress to match your character if you'd like.

Most characters are professionals connected to the investigative project — researchers, journalists, investors, consultants, and lab staff — so smart casual or business casual attire works perfectly. If you'd like to lean into the theme, subtle investigative or lab-inspired looks are always fun!

Food, Drinks & Concessions

Please note: Tickets do not include food or beverages. We recommend that guests eat prior to arriving.

We operate a concessions-style menu at the venue with light options available for purchase, such as:

Snack items (chips, candy, popcorn, etc.)

Non-alcoholic beverages (soda, water, etc.)

Occasional themed treats or specialty items

Concessions are perfect for snacking during the mystery, but are not intended to replace a full meal.

You are welcome to arrive a few minutes early to purchase snacks and drinks before the mystery begins. Concessions will also be available during the event.

If you have questions about what will be available for a specific date, feel free to contact us before booking.

How the Experience Works:

An Immersive, Hands-On Experience

Our murder mysteries are not staged like a traditional play. They are fully interactive, mingle-style events where you move around the room, talk to other guests, and become part of the story.

Most guests attend as characters, but we also offer a very limited number of Observer tickets for those who want to watch before jumping in.

Character Tickets – Be Part of the Story

Step into a unique role and bring your character to life.

With a Character Ticket, you will:

Receive a character with a backstory, secrets, and objectives

Interact with other guests to share (and hide) information

Help drive the investigation forward and influence how the story unfolds.

You’ll receive step-by-step instructions, but it’s up to you to add personality, creativity, and strategy to achieve your objectives.

New or nervous?

We have plenty of low-pressure supporting roles that don’t put you in the spotlight. At checkout, you’ll be able to tell us:

If this is your first murder mystery

How involved you’d like your character to be (low-key supporting vs. big and dramatic)

We’ll use your answers to match you with a character that fits your comfort level as closely as possible.

Observer Tickets – Watch the Mystery Unfold (No Character Role)

With an Observer Ticket, you attend the event without playing a character.

As an Observer, you will:

Not receive a character sheet or assigned role

Not be part of the story

Still be able to watch the investigation, follow along with the clues, and submit a final accusation at the end

This option is great for guests who want to see how a mingle-style murder mystery works before playing a character at a future event.

Important:

This is not a sit-down stage show. Most guests will be playing characters and moving around the room. As an Observer, you’ll be watching and listening in rather than playing a role.

Limited Availability:

Observer tickets are very limited (typically 4–6 per event) to keep the experience interactive for everyone. Once they are sold out, only Character Tickets will be available.

What to Expect

At a typical event, you can expect:

A live murder, investigation, and evidence presentation

Plot twists, red herrings, and evolving storylines

A chance to compete to solve the case and earn bragging rights as the top sleuth

Questions Before You Book?

If you’re unsure how our events work or which ticket type is best for you, please contact us before purchasing. We’re happy to help you choose the right experience.

Ticket Policy

Please read carefully before purchasing tickets.

All ticket sales are final and non-refundable.

Many of our events involve carefully assigned characters who play critical roles in the storyline (unless Observer tickets are specifically offered).

Because of this, ticket transfers are not guaranteed and will only be considered on a case-by-case basis, requested no later than 30 days before the event.

Each character assignment includes personalized materials prepared in advance and cannot be modified at the last minute.

As guests are assigned characters with specific objectives, we cannot predict or control every choice they make. While we design each mystery with a clear intended outcome, we cannot be held responsible for unexpected actions—such as guests revealing information early or disregarding their objectives.

Our team will always do our best to:

Maintain the integrity of the mystery

Support guests in understanding their roles

Provide an immersive, enjoyable experience for everyone

By purchasing a ticket, you acknowledge and accept these terms and understand that the success of the experience depends on the participation and cooperation of all attendees.
