BLACK STORYTELLING FEST 2026
Celebrate your loved ones, preserve your people's stories, and spend the day making something together.
Black Storytelling Week is a new annual holiday dedicated to passing down Black family history. Whether your family is adopted, given, or chosen, this celebration is for you.
Bring your grandma, your play cousins, your love, or your best friends - whoever you call family.

Portraits
Capture a time capsule of your loved ones by posing for portraits with acclaimed Brooklyn-raised photographer Naima Green

Learn the basics of interviewing someone you love during a private session with an award-winning audio producer and Brooklyn native.

Pick up a free archiving kit and learn simple ways to preserve the things you have sitting in boxes, closets, phones, and hard drives.
Archivists Zakiya Collier of Black Memory Workers will be on hand to answer questions and share practical tips for archiving, documenting everyday life, starting your own family history projects, and more.
Grocery Giveaway
Make a meal to keep the conversation going. Pick up a box of local farm-fresh food and sustainable produce from Councilmember Chi Osse and GrowNYC.
