After some incredibly well received shows in the coolest venues in the Sydney & Melbourne underground, The Carnys are back in town for the final show of their intensive ‘Cultland tour.
This shape-shifting four piece conjures a sound steeped in gothic atmosphere, post-punk tension, and poetic chaos.

Their live shows are not performances - they’re rituals. Guitars wail like sirens, rhythms pound like war drums, and voices rise like smoke from a scorched landscape. With a reputation for turning stages into altars and crowds into believers, The Black Sea Carnys deliver an experience that’s both otherworldly and undeniably visceral.

Armed with their acclaimed new album Cultland, the band comes to The Hobart Brewery for what promises to be a night of sonic possession and beautiful disorder. Equal parts cinematic and savage, it’s music for the dreamers, the wanderers, and the ones who dance on the edge.

‘Nineties grunge meets slam poetry’? This might be the shorthand description for this South Tasmanian music trio, but actually Puk defies definition. In less than two years they have landed assuredly on a style that is both comically familiar, and uniquely strange. Multi-instrumentalists “Two Dog” and “Stark” rotate between drums and guitars, stylish and brooding, they build a darkly imposing rhythmic undercurrent. Front man Pall Mall delivers lyrics both angry and absurdist. Straddling social commentary and crazed inner monologue, he metamorphoses through costume reveals, and frenetic dance improvisations. Puk is a writhingly original music performance experience.
