About this Event
This meeting was rescheduled from 2/1 due to inclement weather to this new date: 3/8
Join us for a powerful gathering where , a former student from the historic , will share Black HERstory.Truth Telling with the Elders is a powerful four-part storytelling and learning series honoring the voices, wisdom, and lived experiences of Black elders across Gwinnett County and the greater Atlanta region.
This series will take place during the months of February & March 2026, creating inclusive, intergenerational spaces for communities of all backgrounds to learn, listen, and celebrate the diverse and global roots of Black identity, from the motherland of Africa to the Caribbean diaspora to the historical contributions of foundational Black Americans.
This event centers our elders (aged 70 and older), many of whom are among the last living witnesses of segregation, educational transformation, and the Civil Rights Movement. Their truths, resilience, and memories are living libraries that must be preserved before they are lost to time. We highly encourage youth to participate in these sessions to learn about historical truths, get guidance from wise elders, and carry forward the legacy of the power of commUNITY.
