Hoover-AHEAD is inviting the community to gather on March 9, 2025, for a citywide Black History Month Community Celebration. While Black History Month is in February each year, this event is being held in March to look back on the month and reflect on this year's Black History Month. This event will include a time to recognize and award prizes to this year's Black History Month Reflection Contest.
To conclude the event, Salaam Green, the City of Birmingham's Poet Laureate, will make an appearance to share poetry reflecting on Black History and the black experience in Alabama.
This event is produce by Hoover-AHEAD partially through a generous grant from the Alabama Humanities Alliance and is free to the public.
