Don’t miss out on our arts & craft station, culinary delights from Jamerikan Jerk, and more!

The Prospect Band

Prospect is the next generation of musicians from Oakland School for the Arts, blending Hip Hop, jazz fusion, soul, and R&B into a sound that's both timeless and boldly new. The band features a powerhouse lineup of young musicians, including Grammy winners Tommy Shepherd (vocals/sax/EWI), Kali de Jesus (vocals/sax), Dame Taylor (drums), and Kingston Melancon (violin/bass). With roots in Oakland's vibrant cultural scene, Prospect has brought their performances to stages across the Bay Area, including the Malcolm X Jazz Festival, La Peña Cultural Center, Laurel Street Fair, Oaktoberfest, Local Progress National Convening, Hiero Day, and HIIIwav Fest. Their music honors the legacy of Black music while pushing the boundaries of contemporary sound. Prospect isn't just a school band; they're a movement of young artists using music to move culture.

Veotis Latchinson

Veotis Latchison is an songwriter, producer, and vocalist from Oakland, California. His artistic expression is deeply influenced by a mix of hip hop, R&B, soul, and jazz, drawing inspiration from artists like James Brown, D'Angelo, Donny Hathaway, Big Yuki, and Robert Glasper.
