Join us for a beautiful full-day walk exploring the Legends & Landscapes of St Leonard’s Forest!
Please take a moment to read the full walk description carefully so you know what to expect (distance, terrain, facilities, etc.) and can come prepared.
Pace: This is a fast-paced full-day walk, so please ensure you’re comfortable walking steadily for several hours.
Terrain: Woodland paths with gentle inclines. It can be muddy after rain. Kissing gates and some field crossings (sheep and cows may be present).
Accessibility: Due to the nature of the terrain, this walk may not be suitable for wheelchair users or those requiring fully accessible paths.
What to Wear & Bring:
• Supportive walking boots or waterproof shoes
• Weather-appropriate layers (woodland areas can feel cooler)
• Sun protection: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
• 1.5–2 litres of water
• Packed lunch and snacks
• Picnic blanket or mat (for lunch break at an open field)
• Walking poles (optional)
• Spare socks
Toilets: At start and halfway along the route.
Transport : (Important - please read) If you are coming from London please take the faster train (52-minute journey) from London Bridge:10:06am departure, arriving at Horsham at 10:57am. Please book a same-day anytime return ticket to give flexibility for your journey home.
There are toilets and a shop at the station. Lidl (Foundry Lane) is around a 7–10 minute walk from the station if you’d like food or snacks before we set off. There are no shops/cafes at the lunch stop.
If you plan to visit shops, please arrive earlier, as the walk will start promptly at 11:15am
Parking: Paid parking is available nearby Horsham Station approx £9.10/day. Please plan accordingly in advance.
**Additional note: Due to woodland nature of the trail and lack of clear landmarks, it may not be possible to rejoin the group if you arrive late.
This event will be led by a BGH trained walk leader. Please note that the leader does not hold a Mountain Leader qualification, and participation is therefore at your own discretion and risk.
