Black Girls Hike: Hampstead Heath Circular: Pergola & Ponds

This is a circular route through Hampstead Heath, starting and finishing near Gospel Oak station. We will pass through some highlights, including Parliament Hill, Viaduct Pond, and the beautiful Hill Garden & Pergola. There is an optional exit point for anyone who would prefer to finish around the halfway mark.

Terrain: This is a moderate walk, with a mix of paved paths, woodland trails and natural Heath paths. There are some moderate to steep inclines and some steps along the way. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended.

What to Wear & Bring:

• Supportive walking boots or waterproof shoes

• Weather-appropriate layers (woodland areas can feel cooler)

• Sun protection: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen (if warm weather)

• 1.5–2 litres of water

• Packed lunch and snacks

Toilets: There are cafés and toilet facilities at various points along the route. First toilet stop is in first 10 minutes of walk

Transport : We recommend arriving by public transport this hike has great transport links and will start and finish near an underground station.

This event will be led by a BGH trained walk leader. Please note that the leader does not hold a Mountain Leader qualification, and participation is therefore at your own discretion and risk.
