Join us for a Sunday afternoon rooted in cinema, conversation, and community. Matinee + Mimosas is our signature daytime film series celebrating Black storytelling paired with bottomless mimosas and an easygoing, welcoming atmosphere.

This edition centers Poetic Justice, written and directed by John Singleton. The film follows Justice, portrayed by Janet Jackson, as she navigates grief, love, and self-expression through poetry after personal loss. Set along a journey from South Central Los Angeles to Oakland, the film weaves romance, music, and spoken word into a meditation on intimacy, healing, and the complexities of Black life and connection. With a standout performance from Tupac Shakur, it remains a defining and emotionally resonant work within 1990s Black cinema.
