About this Event
Join Our Natural Dyeing with Food Scraps Workshop!
Dive into the world of natural dyeing using everyday food scraps. This hands-on workshop is perfect for anyone interested in giving their clothes and produce a second life. We will be utilizing onion skins and other color-changing elements including an iron mordant and indigo vat.
Learn basic natural dye techniques, experiment with different colors, and have fun transforming kitchen waste into special fabrics.
What to bring:
- Washed piece of clothing made from natural fibers only (cotton, wool, linen)
- Red and Yellow onion skins (keep separate)
Our produce team will be providing onion scraps as well, so don't worry too hard about bringing some.
All other supplies will be provided including an iron mordant and indigo vat (we will need to go outside to the back for the iron and indigo process). Information on how to replicate this process at home will be provided along with possible other food scraps and items to try. Indigo vat will be for use, but there will not be time to go over the process for making one (maybe at a later date).
