About this Event
Black Eye Film Club presents Idlewild (2006)
Join Black Eye Film Club for the closing film of our Black Music Month series as we celebrate Atlanta's own OutKast with a screening of Idlewild (2006).
Set in a dazzling Prohibition-era Southern town, Idlewild blends music, comedy, romance, and spectacle into a uniquely Black cinematic experience. Starring André 3000 and Big Boi, the film follows two friends navigating ambition, love, and survival while building a vibrant nightlife scene in the Jim Crow South. Featuring an unforgettable soundtrack and a visual style unlike any other musical of its era, Idlewild showcases the creativity and imagination that made OutKast one of the most influential groups in music history.
As we conclude Black Music Month, we'll celebrate not only Atlanta's musical legacy but also the artists who continue to expand what Black storytelling can be. Join us for an evening of music, film, and conversation as we revisit this ambitious and often overlooked love letter to Black Southern culture and creativity.
