Black Cat Zine Club - Pride Edition
About this Event
Black Cat Zine Club – Pride Edition 🏳️🌈🐈⬛🏳️⚧️
Join us at Black Cat – Bar, Coffee & Bottle Shop on Smithdown Road for our next Black Cat Zine Club in Liverpool! This month we're celebrating Pride with an evening of zine-making, creativity, community, and glorious DIY goodness.
We'll be creating handmade zines inspired by intersectional Pride in all its forms — celebrating LGBTQ+ joy, resistance, identity, chosen family, history, solidarity, self-expression, and the wonderfully diverse communities that make Pride what it is. We will also be creating some collaborative bunting to decorate the bar!
Your zine can be as personal, political, playful, or saucy as you like. Make a collage celebrating queer icons, tell your coming out story, create a photo zine about your local queer community, design your dream Pride march, write poetry, illustrate your favourite LGBTQ+ books or films, celebrate trans joy, explore queer history, or simply make something colourful that makes you smile.
Expect cutting, sticking, folding, drawing, writing, collaging, and general creative silliness. If you'd like to, bring along photos, old magazines, tickets, flyers, maps, letters, lyrics, poems, stickers, fabrics, or anything else you'd like to include in your zine. No experience is needed.
It's 6–9pm on Tuesday 28th July at the lovely Black Cat on Smithdown Road. As always, this is a safe, welcoming, and intersectional space. Bigotry, discrimination, or hateful behaviour of any kind won't be tolerated.
The event is ticketed because space is limited. Tickets are available on a pay-what-you-can donation basis (£1+) and all profits from the evening will be donated to Safe Space Merseyside. Every donation, however big or small, helps support both the event and an important local organisation doing vital work for LGBTQ+ people. If a donation isn't possible for you, please get in touch—we'd still love to have you there.
All materials are provided—just bring yourself and some cash/card if you'd like drinks and snacks from the bar.
There are a few steps up to the poster room where we'll be meeting. If you have any access requirements, please get in touch.
