Bizhiki is Dylan Bizhikiins Jennings, Joe Rainey, and Sean Carey. The trio fuses powwow tradition with synthesized voice modulation, accenting hand drums with electronic samples and beats to create a unique and authentic sound. Souldies songwriter Jada Brown opens the set with her first full-band performance at The Cedar.

Bizhiki presents a multidisciplinary performance aiming to educate, engage, and empower audiences around contemporary Ojibwe culture and lifeways.

The music of Bizhiki blends the ethereal vocals and visceral drumming of Dylan Bizhikiins Jennings (Bad River Ojibwe) and Joe Rainey Sr. (Red Lake Ojibwe) with contemporary soundscape multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer S. Carey. Connecting the songs is a lyrical narrative in which Jennings and Rainey share pieces of the Anishinaabe experience around identity, loss, and revitalization.

The talented performers’ diverse instrumentation - including powwow drums, percussion, drum programming, electric bass, synthesizers, guitars, piano, and vocals - expertly evoke the lived Anishinaabe experience in a unique format. Audiences are welcomed to gather in intimate community to connect experientially and emotionally to Ojibwe culture, all through the crisp lens of art and collaboration.
