Bixby Marshland Open House
About this Event
Come and see why Bixby Marsh is a hidden gem in Carson. Open the first Saturday every month, Bixby Marshland is one of the few remaining marshlands of a formerly extensive, natural-freshwater wetland known as Bixby Slough.
The 17-acre wetland is home to 110 species of plants, 73 of which are native. It also provides habitat for mammals, reptiles, and amphibians such as the Baja California tree frog. In total, 127 different bird species have been documented at Bixby Marshland over time. From seasonal visitors to year-round residents, the marsh continues to support a wide variety of wildlife, making it an important habitat for birds and local conservation efforts.
