With Presenter: Olivia Turner - British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) recommended bitting expert and qualified animal behaviourist.
An informative training day for anyone with an interest in bits, bitting and recognising specific horse behaviours in relation to bit and bridle use.
This training day is open to absolutely anyone interested but may prove particularly useful to coaches who see a variety of clients and may need to assist with bitting problems. The training will also prove beneficial to anyone training towards their BHS Stages Assessments or Pony Club A and AH Tests .

Programme for the Day (subject to change)
9.15am REGISTER (Tea & Coffee)
9.30 – 12.30 THEORY SESSIONS (including a short break):
Head and mouth assessments - what to look for in relation to bitting. How to check the fit of a bit and bridle.
Lorinery science: types of bits and how they work
Bridle parts relating to bitting and performance – with a focus on nosebands and their function
Common bitting issues and what causes them
Is it the bit? Understanding different factors relating to bitting, behaviour and performance issues
12:30 – 13:00 LUNCH
13:00 - 16.00 PRACTICAL SESSIONS (including a short break):
Real mouth assessment - Check current bit and bridle fit
Assess performance in current bit and discuss what we see.
How a bit change might help and what type of bit/s they want to try
Assess horse in different bits.
We'll meet some different horse and rider combinations, experiencing a variety of bitting problems, and see Olivia work with them to try and find solutions.
