Spacious, lyrical and atmospheric jazz from a brand new Anglo-Swiss collaboration featuring four musicians currently based in London. Guitarist and composer Alex Bishop (Assembly Trio), previously based in Sheffield but now in London, is always an energising musical presence, with influences from the likes of Dave Holland, Phronesis, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Bill Frisell.
He’s joined in this quartet by vocalist Molly Davies, whose influences include Joni Mitchell, Chet Baker, and Sam Amidon, and the quartet is made up by Swiss musicians Lea Scherer (bass) and Kaspar Hafner (drums)
Collectively their music breathes and flows, it’s engaging, open and melodic, and with the influence of Kenny Wheeler.
You may have caught Alex recently at The Lescar with his own quartet, such a great gig, and also with the wonderful Assembly Trio with whom he performed at venues including Matt and Phreds, Footprints Jazz Club.
We’re excited to welcome him back once more with this brand new collaboration.
