Celebrate birds and books! Children’s author June Smalls will be at the MSV with her newly published interactive book Hear Them Sing: Songs and Calls from North American Birds. Enjoy live readings at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., book signings, and special bird-themed activities. Using the book’s soundboard, kids can learn the whistles, chirps, and coos of 14 North American birds. Experts from the Northern Shenandoah Audubon Society will be at the event to share fun bird facts and introduce children to the joys of birdwatching. With more than 10 published children’s books, Smalls’ books combine fun and learning with animal and nature themes. A curated selection of her books will be available for purchase.
