Birds & Wildlife Photography in Central Park

Join us for a fun day out capturing the amazing birds and wildlife right in the heart of Central Park! Whether you're a pro or just love snapping nature shots, this in-person event is perfect to learn new tricks, meet fellow photo lovers, and enjoy the great outdoors. Bring your camera and get ready to explore the park's hidden photo gems!

Info: All these times are approximate; we'll shoot as much as possible and I'll slip lessons in while we wait for wildlife. Before we head out, I'll help you get your camera setup to get sharp, in-focus subjects. I've reviewed and taught every camera out there, so I got ya.

Info: We'll often hear songbirds before we see them. I'll talk about the art & science of songbird calls and show you the Merlin app.

Info: The most important camera setting is your shutter speed, and getting the best quality pictures requires you to constantly adjust it depending on the animal motion, lighting, and your hand-holding ability.

Info: Shooting your subject from eye-level makes them appear more powerful and creates more background separation. I'll demonstrate techniques.

Info: Extension tubes allow you to focus on close subject when your camera wouldn't otherwise focus. They're a really important tool in Central Park where many animals will approach closely. Teleconverters bring faraway subjects closer. I'll discuss and demonstrate when to use each.

Info: Zooms and primes each have their advantages and disadvantages. I'll bring my 600mm f/4 to show the results a heavy lens can produce, but I'll also demonstrate the significant disadvantages.
