Meet at ASB Trail parking area on Hilton Ave just past All American Marine. (Hilton runs off Roeder, between F St and Bell Weather Way.)
ASB (Aeration Stabilization Basin) Trail surrounds on 3 sides the old Georgia Pacific stabilization basin which juts out into Bellingham Bay alongside the Whatcom Creek Waterway. The basin attracts a large variety of waterfowl, including a very large flock of Double-Crested Cormorants (dozens nest there). Recent sightings in the basin include Mergansers, Northern Shovelers, Coots, Green-winged Teal, Gadwalls, Great Blue Herons, Kildeer, Crows and several species of Gulls, along with various seasonal migrants in the Bay. Various songbirds also inhabit the bushes alongside the trail, and Bald Eagles and Harriers have also been seen there. Avian visitors vary from month to month.
