Meet at the Stimpson Family Nature Preserve Trailhead, 2076 Lake Louise Road.
The parks and neighborhoods of Bellingham offer birders a wide array of unique habitats to explore. Join other birders each month to explore a new birding hotspot within walking, biking, or bussing distance from downtown Bellingham. This month, we will be heading to the edge of town to the Stimpson Family Nature Reserve. Winter birding at Stimpson is truly a treat. The mature forests provide habitat for Varied Thrush, Pacific Wrens, Owls, Ravens, and more; while the ponds and wetlands fill with ducks and herons. We will meet at the lot on Lake Louise Road and plan to hike 2 miles to visit Geneva Pond. The trails will likely be muddy, with a few moderate hills, so come prepared.
