Georgia Riggs is a fish and wildlife biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her main duties revolve around federally threatened and endangered species and renewable energy in Oklahoma, but she works on bird-window collisions when she can. Georgia has an extensive background working on the issue, stemming from her graduate studies with Dr. Scott Loss at Oklahoma State University (OSU), from which she graduated with a Master of Science in 2021. At OSU, Georgia tested the effectiveness of a window treatment option in reducing bird-window collisions at glass-walled bus shelters in Stillwater. She also conducted a study that surveyed stakeholders on their perceptions of bird-window collisions to better understand motivations and barriers to working on the issue. Currently, Georgia works on bird-window collisions in a regional and national capacity to help the USFWS survey and retrofit their facilities to be bird-safe. In her free time, Georgia loves to bird-watch, learn about native plants, and spend time with her partner, family and cats.
