Bird watching tour is a new event we have created for bird lovers, nature enthusiasts and avian photographers. You will be able to explore the diversity of birds in a variety of eco systems and different birds habitat. We have lined up an amazing circuit where you will be able to view birds in swamps, forest, fresh water lake and alkaline Lake. This is a family friendly event which will include short walks that do not require significant physical fitness. This is a perfect way to learn, explore, exchage notes and interact with like minds.-MANGUO SWAMP
Manguo swamp in Limuru along the Nairobi-Naivasha highway is an amazing bird watching gem. The word Manguo is a kikuyu word meaning waters of the hippos. It was named when hippos used to frolic in the swamp nourished by the lush green grass that surround the swamp. The swamp teems with a variety of birds including the crested crane, blacksmith plovers, egrets, grey heron, sacred ibis, among many others.
-UPLANDS FOREST
A variety of highlands birds can be found on forest edges. Uplands forest borders the greater Kereita forest and is home to a great number of birds. Birds on our checklist here will include, the speckled mousebird, the white eyed flycatcher, Kenyan rufous sparrow, pied crow, fire finch, sunbirds etc.
LAKE ELEMENTAITA
Lake Elementaita is an alkaline lake and hosts a wide variety of birds. we shall explore the southern side of the lake which is mostly preffered by most birds. Birds to be found here include the greater and lesser flamingos, pelicans, black winged stilts, little stints, storks, herons. You shall also be able to visit the hot springs.
LAKE NAIVASHA
Lake NAIVASHA is a fresh water lake which is home to a wide variety of birds. The best way to watch birds in lake is by taking a boat ride tour. Birds to be found here include the cormorants, hamerkop, egyptian goose, pelicans, king fisher, fish eagle, marabou storks etc.
