About this Event

Sponsored by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, join us for a peaceful bird walk through Rock Creek Cemetery, a historic and beautifully maintained landscape that serves as both sacred space and vibrant habitat.

This unique setting blends rolling grounds, mature trees, and open areas that attract a variety of birds throughout the seasons. As we move through the cemetery, we’ll take a slow approach pausing often to listen, look, and share what we notice together.

This walk is welcoming to beginner and experienced birders alike, and offers a chance to experience birds, history, and landscape in a quiet, reflective environment.

Event Photos

Rock Creek Cemetery is one of Washington, DC’s most historic landscapes, a place where nature, history, and reflection come together. Established in the early 18th century, the cemetery’s rolling grounds, sculptures, and mature trees create a unique environment that supports both community and wildlife.

As Rev. Cynthia McKenna, Priest-in-Charge of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, shares:

“I was a beginner birder once and I’d love for this to be a welcoming place for learners. This land has been ours since 1712. It’s beautifully maintained, and I want to see lots of folks with binoculars here as often as possible.”

We’re honored to partner in bringing people into this space to experience birds, connect with nature, and share in its beauty.
