Bird Walk: Camp Nelson National Monument
Advertisement
Join CKAS for a bird walk at Camp Nelson. This may be our last chance to look for Bobolinks and other grassland species.
Target Species: Bobolink, Dickcissel, American Kestrel, Grasshopper Sparrow, Hooded Warbler
Terrain: Easy mowed paths, and woodland trail
Distance: Possibly 2 miles
Restrooms: At visitor center, and port-a-potty in parking lot
Conditions: This may be a very hot day, so be prepared with lots of water. There is a wooded path that may be slightly cooler than the open fields, but we have to cross the fields to get there. The visitor center is air conditioned and opens at 9:00 am.
