Join Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources and the Sarasota County Historical Commission for the dedication of a new historical marker recognizing the legacy of Bird Bay Village, the first Planned Unit Development in Venice.Discover the unique story behind the land's transformation, from its agricultural roots and early development attempts to its evolution into a vibrant retirement community that helped shape local planning practices. Special guests include Sarasota County Commissioner Tom Knight, Director of Libraries and Historical Resources Dr. Renee Di Pilato, and SCHC Chair Dr. Mark Pienkos.
Following the unveiling of the marker, guests are invited to enjoy light refreshments and connect with community members who helped preserve this important piece of local history.
