Banding 9am/ Hike 10am. Here’s your opportunity to experience an actual bird in hand and to release back into the wild. This will be an exclusive Piccadilly event as they know us now and are providing a special event just for us.We will observe master bird handlers weigh and examine various species of birds migrating to our region. This is the best time for spring migration. As the expert naturalists band and examine the birds, they will share many factual pieces of information that are unique and interesting about each species of bird they handle. A great chance to see birds closer than you ever imagined before.
After the banding, we can hike with our birding expert(s) for about 1 mile and see what we can spot from the trail. Bring your binoculars, and if you don’t have a pair we will find you some to use, bring water and wear comfortable shoes. If you haven’t started a lifetime birding list, this would be a great time to start. There are some great birding apps that can simplify the bird identification, calls, similar birds and behavior and I’ll be glad to share the ones I know with you.
