At 12:00 PM sharp, brave (and slightly crazy) participants will charge into the chilly waters of Birch Bay to kick off 2027 in the most refreshing way possible.
This year we’re returning to the classic, traditional Polar Bear Plunge. That means no official world record attempt and no strict guidelines—just pure, fun, community spirit.

Whether you come in a wild costume, a bathing suit, or your favorite goofy outfit, the goal is simple: have fun and celebrate the New Year with friends, family, and the Birch Bay community.
Thousands of spectators and plungers gather each year to watch the countdown and cheer as the crowd hits the water. Then warm up in one of our great waterfront establishments. It’s a lively, unforgettable way to welcome the year ahead.
