About this Event
BIPOC Therapist Social
Come join us at McCarren Parkhouse for a BIPOC Therapist Social!
This is an opportunity for BIPOC Therapists to breathe, share, and be in community with others who understand the unique weight we carry in this work. So often, we pour into others while holding the complexities of our identities, often in isolation. But healing work isn’t meant to happen alone. Whether you're a seasoned therapist, just starting out, or somewhere in between, you are welcome here.
Come as you are, bring your friends, meet new people, and be part of building something rooted in care, solidarity, and shared wisdom. We’ll also be joined by an inspiring guest speaker who will share reflections on their practice, their healing approaches, and how they show up as BIPOC therapists in today’s world:
Sonia Agarwal is a PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology, therapist, and disability advocate whose work centers autistic experiences navigating trauma, identity, and marginalization. Her research explores posttraumatic growth and resilience in autistic communities, and she’s passionate about making psychological knowledge accessible to those it’s meant to serve. As an autistic woman of color, Sonia brings a deep commitment to neurodiversity-affirming care and activism. She advocates for practices that honor autistic culture, celebrate pride, and challenge pathologizing narratives - especially in spaces where race, disability, and mental health intersect.
We hope you can join us!
