Biodiversity Net Gain Summit for NSIPs 2026
About this Event
Every onshore NSIP application that is submitted to the Planning Inspectorate from 2nd November 2026 must deliver a minimum 10% net increase in biodiversity. The policy position is now settled: laying out a consistent requirement across all NSIP types with no sector-specific exemptions.
Last year’s summit explored early strategies for a policy still taking shape. This year’s is built around delivery. With policy going live in just a few weeks and DCO programmes already running through the transition, delegates need practical answers on securing units at scale, structuring procurement, and managing thirty years of liability on projects that may not break ground for a decade.
What the summit will cover
Status update: The guidance is in – but what’s changed since the consultation and what is still missing. What do you need in place to be ready?
Managing risk: We know the risks, but how do we manage them? Who is liable for delivery and who is enforcing?
Delivery options: On-site BNG, off-site Biodiversity Units, bespoke Habitat Banks, and statutory credits as a last resort. What’s new, which option is best for your project, and what team do you need to assemble to deliver at NSIP scale?
