🌿 Discover the biodiversity on our doorstep this Biodiversity Month.
Join Port Macquarie Hastings Council’s Ecologist and Biosecurity Officer, along with volunteers from Friends of Kooloonbung Creek, for a guided walk through Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park.
You’ll learn about the native plants, animals and ecosystems found throughout the park, including threatened species such as koalas and flying foxes.
The tour will also explore wetlands, mangrove habitats and threatened ecological communities, and the important role these natural areas play in supporting local biodiversity.
📍 Meeting point: Waterdragon sculpture (The Big Lizard), Gordon Street, Port Macquarie
The route follows a timber boardwalk and gravel paths. Most of the walk is flat, with some sections including stairs.
What to bring:
• Closed-toe walking shoes
• Hat and sunscreen
• Water bottle
• Weather-appropriate clothing
• Raincoat or umbrella if rain is forecast
