About the WorkshopIn the series of workshops for the corporates/
ecologists/conservationists/academia, this is the second
one focussing on “Biodiversity and Carbon Management.”
Carbon has been a long-discussed topic. Attaining the
balance between CO2 release and CO2 storage remains a
challenging task. Trees are the best to remove CO2 from the
atmosphere and store in the form of biomass. Along with
trees, faunal species also have a role in the carbon cycle,
which is less explored. Trapping and capturing of CO2 in
biomass to achieve carbon neutrality is an increasingly
popular aspect of interest. Getting acquainted with the
proper methodologies for assessment of biodiversity and
carbon, one can aim for effective carbon management. We
intend to provide a complete vision of how biodiversity is
closely linked to the carbon cycle, how carbon in biomass
can be effectively managed through specific interventions
and how action-oriented steps can lead to significant
contribution towards bigger challenges like global warming
and climate change.
Expected outcomes of this workshop:
Basic insights into biodiveristy asesssment
techniques
Techniques for carbon assessment
Role of biodiversity in carbon management
Concepts of C- sequestration, C- Neutrality and Ccredits
