About this Event

iNaturalist is a wonderful resource to document the biodiversity of our planet, using just the camera on your phone.

Join Ranger Val and Ecology Ellie for this beginner-friendly bioblitz that is aimed at helping newer iNaturalist users feel confident making observations on the iNaturalist app.

During this event, we will begin with a short briefing about iNaturalist, and then we will go on a short hike to document all the plants, animals, and fungi we can find.

Participants will need to download the iNaturalist app and make an account prior to signing up for the event. We will ask for your iNaturalist handle at checkout.

Please also come prepared to hike up to 1-2 miles on uneven terrain in varying weather conditions. We recommend bringing sun and insect protection, water and snacks, and anything else you need to be comfortable.

While this event is targeted toward iNaturalist newbies, seasoned iNaturalist users* are also welcome to come along to make observations with us or mentor one of the new users.

*We define a seasoned iNaturalist user as someone who has at least 1000 observations and at least 100 identifications.
