“The life cycle of the molar” or the “Circle of Death,” where a small filling eventually leads to loss of vitality or even extraction of a tooth, is well-known in dentistry. However, clear strategies and guidelines to prevent this scenario have yet to be proposed. A thorough understanding of the biomechanical behavior of teeth, both healthy and restored, at macro- and micro-levels is important. This enables us to come up with effective measures to save teeth and be less aggressive in our treatment proposals. A proactive approach will be suggested for both vital and non-vital teeth. This course will address the importance of early diagnosis, healthy strategy, effective isolation, and skilled execution.
We will discuss both direct and indirect approaches to cuspal coverage. In addition, we will tackle various issues: Immediate Dentine Sealing, Deep Margin Elevation, cavity design, and adhesive cementation. Communication with patients when treating cracks will be infused throughout the course.
During the course, we will answer the following questions:
✅ What diagnostic tools can I use?
✅ How do I create a treatment plan for a tooth with an uncertain prognosis?
✅ What materials can I use for my restorations?
✅ What about Deep Margin Elevation?
✅ Can I work with fiber-reinforced methods?
✅ Should I opt for direct or indirect restorations?
✅ Endo or no Endo?
✅ How far should I chase cracks?
✅ What guarantees can I give?
