Bio-Art Workshop: Paint With Robots & Local Microbes

Join and for a unique hands-on experience where art meets science! In this workshop, you'll get to unleash your creativity by painting with microbes to create living art that grows and changes over time. Dive into the world of bio-art and explore the fascinating intersection of biology, technology, and art.

Before the workshop, you will be invited to create some bioart using the online editor. It will be "printed" by a robot in time for you to see it when you arrive. On the day of the workshop, you'll learn more about these microbes, and you'll use that knowledge to make a second and third piece of bio-art that you’ll handmake and we'll print together respectively. A custom journal of the event and photos of your first artwork will be yours to take home after the workshop.  A few days after the event, you'll receive photos of your second artpiece.

No prior experience is necessary - just bring a laptop, your curiosity, and willingness to experiment! Don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind opportunity to create art in collaboration with billions of microbes.

Info: You'll design and make agar art, while we discuss tips for success, and share historical, current, and future-looking examples of people practicing this art form.

Info: Snacks provided, including traditional fermented treats!

Info: You'll create digital BioArtBot designs (you need a laptop for this), then we'll print them together with a liquid handling robot.

Info: We'll take pictures of your art and add them to your journal, which you can take home that day. You'll get another picture of your art pieces in your email a few days later.
