About this Event
Dr. Erika Rosen, Assistant Professor of Health Science at California State University, Long Beach, earned her Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Louisiana State University and completed her Postdoctoral Fellowship at UC Berkeley through the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). Her research focuses on identifying contextual factors that exacerbate racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities in alcohol use and subsequent social and health consequences, utilizing social and spatial epidemiologic methods.
California's local and state laws have tried to extend alcohol retailers' operating hours. Limiting alcohol retailers' hours is seen as a way to prevent alcohol-related harm. Dr. Erika Rosen will present her research on the impact of reducing bar hours on violent crime, using her research conducted in Baltimore, Maryland.
