Village Artist Market Celebrates One Year of Rebuilding Asheville's Creative Community

Historic Biltmore Village gallery marks its first anniversary with artist demonstrations, hands-on activities, and a celebration of local art and resilience.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (July 25, 2026) — One year ago, Village Artist Market opened its doors with a simple but powerful mission: to provide local artists affected by Hurricane Helene with a place to rebuild, reconnect, and thrive. Today, the gallery has become one of Historic Biltmore Village's premier destinations for locally created fine art and handcrafted gifts, representing more than 40 artists from Western North Carolina.

On Saturday, July 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Village Artist Market will commemorate its first anniversary with a day of artist demonstrations, interactive creative experiences, refreshments, and opportunities to meet many of the talented artists whose work fills the gallery.

“Our first year has been about much more than selling art," said founder Naomi Duncan. "It's been about helping artists rebuild after one of the most difficult chapters in our community's history while creating a welcoming destination where visitors and locals can discover the extraordinary talent that makes Western North Carolina such a special place.”

Founded in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Village Artist Market was created to give artists who lost studios, inventory, and income an opportunity to rebuild their businesses while preserving Asheville's vibrant creative community. Every purchase made at the gallery directly supports independent artists and strengthens the region's arts economy.

Since opening, the gallery has expanded opportunities for artists beyond its walls through partnerships with local businesses, including the installation of original artwork throughout the neighboring Ruth's Chris Steak House, where guests can enjoy and purchase local artwork while dining.

“Reaching one year is a milestone worth celebrating, but it's also a testament to what our community can accomplish together," Duncan said. "We are incredibly grateful to our artists, customers, neighbors, and visitors who have supported local creativity and helped make Village Artist Market a place where art, community, and resilience come together.”
