Bikin' Bay City Loop - Tobico Marsh Group Ride
Advertisement
Join us as we explore the Bay County Riverwalk Trail System! Boardwalks "over the river" and paved trails "through the woods" to antique houses we go!
This easy No-Drop ride is comprised of 2 sections = 26 miles total for those that go the entire distance. Riding pace 12-14 MPH. Because of the distance and sunset we are starting promptly at 6:00.
Parking and starting place is Defoe Park's Parking lot on Marquette Ave in Bay City.
Section 1 - We park and start at DeFoe Park in Bay City. Section 1 ride is a 12 mile loop around the city on a paved trail. You're in for a treat with this peaceful ride along the river, through a wooded area, and a quaint historical neighborhood. This trail is mostly flat except for the 2 bridges we cross going over the Saginaw River.
Section 2 - For those who want a longer ride, after we complete the loop around the city we will head north along a paved trail to Tobico Marsh Nature Preserve for an additional approx. 14 miles. Lights will be needed for this section as well.
Required Gear:
•Your bike in proper working condition Gravel, MTB, Fitness Bikes are all welcome.
• HELMET no exceptions
• Flat Kit (spare tube, pump or CO2 inflator and tire lever or multi-tool with appropriate tools for your bike)
Recommended Gear:
• Rear red light, front white light
• Snack
• Water
CycleFit in Fenton can tune-up your bike and has all the supplies you need!
Ride Etiquette:
• Show up prepared and on time. Out of respect for others we will not delay the ride start for someone who is late. It is completely okay if you are familiar with the route and have a plan to catch up. In other words, if you are late plan to find us on the route.
• We share the trail with walkers and bikers so please call out traffic: "Walker Up" and/or "Biker up." When you hear this called out it is your responsibility to move to the right side of the trail and ride single file. We pass the slower traffic on the left and it is considerate to either ring your bell or say "On your left" to the walker or biker you are passing.
*No-Drop ride means we don't leave anyone behind and occasionally stop to collect all of the riders.
Any Questions can be directed to Heather Durham per messenger
