ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

EQUIPMENT:

All students are required to bring their own bicycle and helmet for use during class. BikeMN can provide a two-wheel bike (Norco or Specialized brand) and a helmet for a small fee:

  • Bicycle Rental + Helmet Purchase: $30 (students may keep helmet after class)
  • Bicycle Rental: $20
  • Helmet Purchase: $10 (students may keep helmet after class)

Bicycles must be in safe, working order. At the beginning of each session, BikeMN staff will assist students in inspecting their helmet and bicycle for safety. All bicycles:

  • MUST have TWO working hand brakes; no “coaster” brakes (more info on brake types here)
  • MUST be the appropriate size for students. Bicycles that are too big for a child to ride safely will be deemed unsafe
  • MUST be the appropriate bike for the student. If your student requires a trike or other adaptive equipment and you are NOT able to provide this, please contact BikeMN: [email protected]
  • MUST have two working pedals - instructors may remove them during class to assist with balancing
  • MAY NOT be an electric bicycle for this class
  • May, but is not required to, have gears but MAY NOT be fixed gear
  • MAY NOT have training wheels attached unless your students’ physical condition requires so and you have indicated on the registration form

BikeMN and its instructors will maintain a safe and fun environment for students to learn biking and skills in. It is important that each student follow instructions as given and treat themselves, peers, and instructors with respect. Any student who exhibits unsafe behavior may be sent home for the remainder of the class and/or prohibited from continuing the session without refund. Caregivers will be contacted in the case of any behavior issues or emergencies.
