Bike the Burlington Bike Path/Island Line to South Hero

The Sierra Club Vermont invites you to join us on August 11 for a moderate-level bike ride from Burlington to South Hero, via the Burlington Bike Path, the Island Line, and Local Motion's Bike Ferry.
We will gather at Local Motion's Bike Rental location and have a short discussion with Local Motion's Executive Director, Christina Erickson. Local Motion is Vermont's statewide advocate for active transportation, vibrant communities, and safe streets. Their mission is simple: Making it safe, accessible, and fun for everyone to bike, walk, and roll in Vermont. We appreciate partnering with their team.
We will leave from there and bike together on the bike path through Colchester, along the Lake Champlain Causeway to Local Motion's Island Line Bike Ferry to South Hero. From there, we will bike a short distance to Allenholm Farm for a creemee or other treats. The route is 13.2 miles each way and has very few elevation changes.
For those who don't bike regularly, the length can be a challenge. As a group, we'll stop at a couple of scenic locations for a rest or water break.
If you don't own a bike, Local Motion will rent a bike to you at a discount. Otherwise, bring your own bike, and let's get out and explore.
Register today, for we are limited to only 19 cyclists
Come join us while we explore, enjoy, and protect the planet.
The Vermont Sierra Club has been actively working to make biking accessible and safe for all Vermonters. We are working to develop a bike path/bike corridor along the U.S. Route 5 and the Connecticut River, the Connecticut River Trail. The more accesible biking becomes, the less people need to drive. Come join our team.
