About this Event
Do you want to bike to work or school or other activities more often but find it challenging? Come to this class to learn the essentials to make your commute safe, practical, and repeatable!. You will learn from certified League Cycling Instructors who have done it themselves, rain or shine, day and night.
This class is also great as we gear up to celebrate Bike Month in May and Bike to Wherever Days!

- How to choose a great bicycle for commuting
- Rules of the road and important safety tips
- How to plan your route
- Essential and optional gear for you and your bike
- Easy ways to carry your stuff
- How to combine your bike ride with public transit
- How to ride after dark or in inclement weather
- Where and how to securely lock your bike
Logistics
- Location: Redwood City Public Library - 1044 Middlefield Rd, Redwood City, CA 94063. We will be located in the Makerspace, located toward the back left of the library.
- While we hope you'll ride your bike (there are bike racks in front of the library), motor vehicle parking is available in the parking lot for a small fee. Please arrive a few minutes to allow for wayfinding.
- Please add a ticket for each participant (separate names). Tickets are required to attend.
This class is offered to the public for free by the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) and is funded by Commute.org, C/CAG (City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County), and Measure A/W Funds from the TA (San Mateo County Transportation Authority).
