FRCS programs are offered to SOUTHINGTON RESIDENTS ONLY

You must request a ticket for each child that will be participating, including infants. (You do not need to include adults.) When registering please include parent name and child(ren’s) name. Ex: 2 tickets Parents first name (Child 1 & Child 2 names) last name

Big Steps Little Feet is designed for children who will be entering kindergarten and have had minimal preschool experience or are a new student registered for preschool for the 25-26 school year. This program introduces young learners to a classroom setting and prepares them for their transition into school. Children will build their learning foundation through play and hands-on activities. The mixed age group provides opportunities for children to mentor and build peer relations and enhance communication skills. Activities provided support school readiness skills and will include individualized & group play, arts & crafts, games, stories, songs, and more! In addition, the program can help with the transition of separation from a parent/caregiver as students will attend class independently. Parent/caregivers are required to stay on site at all times.

IMPORTANT PROGRAM INFORMATION:

v Ages: 3 to 5 and ENROLLED in a preschool program for the first time or registered for kindergarten with limited preschool experience during the 25-26 school year.

v Big Steps Little Feet will run for six weeks starting the week of June 29th.

v Children are encouraged to attend all classes to experience the greatest benefit the program has to offer. (We understand illness and emergencies do occur; however, we ask that you double check your families’ schedule to ensure that consistent participation is feasible.)

v Dates: Monday and Wednesday 9-10:15am

o 6/29, 7/1, 7/6, 7/8, 7/13, 7/15, 7/20, 7/22, 7/27, 7/29

v Classes will be held at Southington High School.

v Classes will be conducted by FRCS staff.

v Parents/caregivers will be REQUIRED to stay on site, in a separate area for the duration of the program. We have a small grass area right outside our classroom- bring a lawn chair and a book. During inclement weather, parents will have access to a high school classroom.

v Space is limited and will be offered to families who have NOT participated prior. (If openings become available, spaces will be filled-please contact the FRCS to discuss.)

v Families will be asked to share what school their child will be attending in the Fall.
