About this Event
We'll start the evening with stunning real-time footage of the northern lights filmed in Yellowknife, the capital city of Canada’s Northwest Territories. Auroras, Lights of Wonder blends scientific exploration of their colors and shapes with cultural myths and legends surrounding this celestial spectacle. Images from the ground are joined by an astronaut's view of the lights from the International Space Station. After our auroral journey, we'll explore the splendor and science behind some recent, jaw-dropping images from a few cutting-edge telescopes, including the Vera Rubin Observatory and the space-based Webb telescope.
Program length is one hour.
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before show time, because late arrivals may not be seated for safety reasons in our darkened planetarium.
