Big Pink Music In-the-Round: School of Jazz
About this Event
Big Pink Music is proud to present four of the region's most highly-acclaimed jazz musicians performing an exclusive acoustic show at Big Pink Music's in-the-round series on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Hampton’s Victorian Station, the region’s only member-supported listening room.
A hallmark of the jazz genre is the musical dialogue had among ensemble players. The signature in-the-round format, which puts the artists in a circle ringed by the audience, will make each attendee a part of that fascinating conversation. Award-winning bassist Jimmy Masters has assembled a very special quartet, including himself, Chloe Youtsey on vocals, Jeff Smith on Saxophone, and ODU Jazz professor John Toomey to play and discuss their music. And more - audience members will be encouraged to ask questions throughout the event for an even richer experience. This intimate, shared performance will be both entertaining and engaging. Victorian Station, the grand building in Phoebus, is the perfect setting.

"The personal support of Big Pink members means music can be the focus,” BPM board president Kelly Murphy says. “Victorian Station is the perfect home for our community. It has developed into a very special venue -- one with no TVs, karaoke, or loud 'bands -- where the audience truly listens to our local musicians.”
