Build it, decorate it, paddle it (and maybe sink it!) or just come to watch - the Bideford Rotary Water Festival's Cardboard Boat Race is back!
Steampunk themed for 2026. Race solo or with a crew, there are 8 prize categories so you don't have to be the fastest to win something: Solo Paddler, Multi Paddler, Youth Paddler, Most Entertaining, Best Survivor, Best Capsize, Best Submarine, and Best Steampunk Design (judged by the Mayor of Bideford).
Entry is £20 per boat (£10 for children, none under 10 due to insurance). Cardboard is free too, thanks to our partners at Smurfit Westrock Atlas Packaging, email [email protected] to arrange collection or delivery.

Free to attend for spectators.
Full festival also features gig racing, a duck race, fancy dress parade, live music and quayside stalls.
