The Bicycle Film Festival aims to inspire people of all ages to see the bicycle as a tool for sustainability, health, and freedom. Through a multidimensional program, it brings together art, storytelling, culture, and both mental and physical well-being around one common denominator: the bicycle.This all-day event features short film screenings at the Nicosia Municipal Theater, along with various activities taking place in the Nicosia Municipal Garden.
The film screenings focus on inclusion and equality, embracing diversity in all its forms—age, gender, religion, or sexual orientation.

Program 1 – 11:30
From a “girls-only day” at an indoor bike park, to a daring candy quest and a ride through the dreams of comic books, each story shows what it means to move forward—on a bike and in life. Spanning countries from Canada to Hong Kong and from Estonia to the USA, this global adventure is sure to inspire young viewers with tales of strength, imagination, and resilience.

Program 2 – 16:30
A touching and diverse collection of international short films exploring the bicycle as a symbol of freedom in everyday life. From the bustling streets of Mexico City to the heart of the Navajo Nation, the markets of China, the dynamic neighborhoods of South Africa, and the welcoming communities of the Netherlands, these stories—documentaries, animations, and music-rich works—offer bold narratives that come alive on screen. Award-winning films share the lineup with new daring voices, creating an inspiring cinematic experience.
Cycling for Change – Short Films
Program 3 – 19:00
From the mountains of Rwanda to the remote roads of Kyrgyzstan, this moving international selection explores the bicycle as a vehicle for adventure, healing, and transformation. Whether it’s empowering students in Uganda through bicycles, bringing joy to seniors in the United States, or the epic 600-kilometer ride of professional cyclist Alexandros Agrotis around Cyprus—documented by Nikoleta Assioti—these stories celebrate human endurance and spirit on two wheels. This program is a cinematic journey showing how bicycles can help change the world.
