WHAT TO BRING:
We ask that you bring ONLY ONE bin/box/large bag of clothes, so that we do not end up with more leftover clothes at the end of the day than we can handle donating. You can narrow down what you bring by prioritizing items that we have had less of at past swaps, including:
- larger sizes (size 4X/24 or larger)
-"men's"/masculine/gender neutral
-highly desired brands
-items that generally harder to find in large sizes (vintage jeans, etc.)
-excellent condition clothing with lots of life left
Please do NOT bring:
-clothing in sizes 14/large or smaller
-shoes
-jewelry
-accessories (bags, etc.)
-non-clothing items
-clothing that is very worn, pilled, ripped, or stained
If you arrive during the last hour of the swap (6pm to 7pm), please do not bring clothing to donate. We cannot handle influxes of clothing toward the end of the swap.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
This swap is for people who wear size a "women's" size 16/size XL or a “men’s” size 36/size L or larger. This event is for people of all genders and clothing will not be sorted by gender. Please bring clean clothes in fair condition.
When you arrive, if you are donating clothes, please drop off your clothes onto the tables, which will be labeled by size. Feel free to peruse and take much as you would like! You do not need to donate clothes in order to take clothes. And you do not need to take clothes if you donate.
There are two gender neutral bathrooms on the same level which can be used to try on clothes. We may also set up an additional make shift dressing room.
All leftover unclaimed clothes will be donated to the Gender and Sexuality Campus Center at UW-Madison.
This is a space of fat and trans liberation. No diet or weight loss talk, no fatphobia, no TERFS.
ACCESS:
Masks are REQUIRED to attend this event. We will provide some, please bring your own high quality mask and put it on before entering the room. Air purifiers provided by Clean Air 608.
The Youth Room is on the lower level of the Wil-Mar Center and is accessible via stairs or a lift elevator. Clothing will be folded on tables and hung on racks as much as possible, but if there is overflow, some may be in piles on the ground as well. Please contact me with accessibility needs and we will do our best to meet them!
Free parking lot across the street from the center.
