BHM Cookery Course
About this Event
Black History Month Cookery Course
Celebrate Black History Month through food, culture and community with the African Caribbean Centre’s four-week Cookery Course. This hands-on programme explores the rich culinary traditions of the African diaspora, using food as a gateway to history, heritage and storytelling.
Across four engaging workshops, participants will discover the flavours, ingredients and cultural influences that connect communities across Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America. Each session focuses on a different culinary tradition:
- East African Cuisine - Tuesday 6th October
- Afro-Latin Influences - Tuesday 13th October
- Caribbean Cooking - Tuesday 20th October
- West African Cuisine - Tuesday 27th October
Led by experienced cooks and community food champions, participants will learn practical cooking techniques, explore traditional ingredients, prepare authentic dishes and enjoy sharing food together. Along the way, we will uncover the stories of migration, resilience, identity and cultural exchange that have shaped these vibrant food traditions.
And you will leave with your own recipe card.
