Bheki Khoza stands as one of South Africa’s most distinctive jazz voices. Renowned for his uncommon left-handed guitar technique and deeply spiritual approach to music-making, Khoza’s sound is rooted in Afro-jazz, blues, and improvisational freedom. His performances are known for their emotional depth, meditative quality, and storytelling power, making every appearance a singular and unrepeatable experience.
The Band:
Accompanying Khoza is bassist Pizzo Magatyana, a formidable presence on the South African jazz scene. With a career spanning jazz, Afro-soul, and contemporary African music, Magatyana is celebrated for his rich tone, deep groove, and musical intelligence. His bass work provides both grounding and momentum, shaping the trio’s sound with sensitivity and authority.
On drums, Jermaine Jacobs brings rhythmic finesse and versatility. One of Cape Town’s most sought-after drummers, Jacobs is admired for his ability to navigate complex rhythms with subtlety and swing. His intuitive listening and dynamic control make him an ideal collaborator in an intimate trio setting where nuance and interaction are key.
